Job Description Summary

Responsible for the receipt, storage and distribution of equipment, supplies, publications, and commodities necessary to meet the logistical requirements of the College. Primary material handling and transport agent for the college.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma.
  • One to two years of college credit (30 credit hours are equivalent to one year) or equivalent formal training in related field. Combination of education and related experience for a total of four to five years.
  • Forklift driving skills course certification.
  • Warehousing and materials handling techniques and methods training course preferred.
  • Central receiving an issue in handling techniques course preferred.
  • Quality control or work inspection program preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Four to five years administrative experience.
  • Four to five years of hands-on warehousing
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to successfully perform, teach comment, and train warehouse in central receiving lead and staff in the performance of their duties.
  • Ability to read, write, operate technological devices; e.g. computer, laptop, scanner and use computer software; e.g. Microsoft Office 365, teach, and train both college standards and practices as well as WCR standards, practices and benchmarks to staff and lead; enabling them to, inspect, and maintain professional work standards.
  • Ability to drive college vehicles as required, up to and including forklifts, box trucks, lifting trucks, panel trucks, microvans, micro trucks, moderate sized cars, and trucks (non- CDL nature) in transporting packages, parcels, equipment, supplies, personnel and materials.
  • Ability to learn and use various work planning programs receiving and tracking programs, inventory and bar-coding programs, and work order systems as needed.
  • Ability to operate and learn to use and train others in the use of as old and new WCR equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to work externally in varying weather conditions performing WCR duties.
Criteria

CRITERIA : The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Receives incoming shipment for the college’s main campus and extension centers for parcel and freight services.
  • Scans shipment tracking numbers into Sensuite Parcel Tracking database and/or prepares delivery document for all items received.
  • Prepares shipping documents for outgoing college shipments.
  • Interacts with other college logistical support offices to resolve shipment issues.
  • Reviews work requests for warehouse services and develop daily work plans for assigned staff.
  • Develops and implements warehouse storage plan.
  • Coordinates the timing and quantity of resupply requirements with college departments and agencies.
  • Evaluates and provides feedback on staff performance.
  • Trains assigned staff on potential hazards associated with warehouse duties and effective mitigation methods.
  • Attends coordinating meeting for significant events requiring warehouse services and recommends course of actions
  • Operates powered and non-powered material handling equipment and delivery vehicles.
  • Performs and directs cargo palletization and tie-down operations.
  • Manages college gasoline and diesel fuels equipment and fleet refueling requirements.
  • Performs related work as required.
Job Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone, cellular and technological devices; must possess the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, e.g.; personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Unrestricted drivers license for use in driving standard college vehicles.
  • CDL preferred for use in driving optional to college vehicles in large equipment preferred. Must be capable of lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
