The Department of Mathematics at Elmhurst University in the greater
Chicago area invites applications to join the pool of part-time
(adjunct) faculty. We welcome candidates who teach mathematics
courses such as liberal arts mathematics, college algebra,
precalculus, business calculus, elementary statistics, and the
first course in the calculus sequence.
When a position is available, qualified applicants may be contacted

Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare course syllabi for assigned courses based on approved
- Hold regular class meetings that promote active learning and
- Create and administer learning activities; assign grades based
on clear requirements.
- Be available to students for questions and additional
- Follow University and departmental policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- An earned master’s or doctoral degree in mathematics,
mathematics education, or statistics.
- Expertise in the area of mathematics and/or statistics
- Ability to collaborate effectively with mathematics department
faculty, staff and students.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching with a commitment to
creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Experience in college-level teaching in mathematics
- Doctoral degree in mathematics or closely related field
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather
conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to
10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force
frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or
otherwise move object.
