ATTENTION:

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks an Assistant Director, Learning Technology (Service Coordinator II, IT034) with strong analytical, verbal and written communication and project management skills. JOB DETAILS:

The 12-month position's primary responsibility is to support technology skill advancement of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater faculty and staff. The position will work with the Director of Learning Technology, Learning Technology Center (LTC) staff, and other campus units to support the university’s Digital Transformation process. The position will support the development and delivery of training solution to improve employees’ understanding of and competency in instructional and non-instructional campus technologies. This includes assisting with the identification and prioritization of strategic goals, supporting the coordination and delivery of LTC programs, as well as liaising with campus partners and monitoring emerging technology developments in order to make recommendations about new learning technology initiatives. The person in this position works under the supervision of the Director of Learning Technology in ICIT.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least one year’s experience in a position related to information technology support, instructional design, learning management system support/operations, or online and blended faculty development.
  • Documented experience supporting instructional, content-creation and editing, or virtual conferencing tools.
  • Experience leading workshops, programs, or units for adult learners internal to an organization.
  • Experience working with individuals and groups to create development opportunities (e.g., workshops, programs, etc.) to meet the needs of an organization.
  • Familiarity with technology used for instructional and non-instructional use in higher education, as well as with blended, online, and remote pedagogy.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in higher education training, professional development, or teaching
  • Strong background in collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data to varying audiences
  • Experience researching, testing, evaluating, and promoting new or increased tools and functionality
  • Experience managing staff
  • Experience in managing or assisting to manage a budget

  • Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate pilot programs
  • Ability to communicate with users, assist them in identifying their needs, and recommend areas where processes can be proved through technology

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership (20%)
  • Partner with the Director of Learning Technology to develop and update strategic planning and communication efforts to support campus needs.
  • Assist the LTC in developing and documenting unit processes, as well as supporting staff in documenting key processes related to their positions.
  • Support partnerships that meet specific college or departmental needs, coordinating LTC staff resources and participating as needed.
  • Communication and Advocacy (15%)
  • Manage unit-level communication to promote and recruit participants for upcoming activities.
  • Coordinate LTC communications to ensure consistent experience.
  • Needs Assessment and Alignment (25%)
  • Collaborate with campus units to analyze needs related to learning technology.
  • Collaborate with ICIT staff to prepare for and evaluate new learning technology and associated programming.
  • Evaluate potential uses of technology to align with UW-Whitewater’s strategic plan
  • Monitor emerging trends in instructional design models and related fields to support online delivery program strategy.
  • Recommend potential technological tools and programming for wide adoption based on campus needs, developments in higher education.
  • Work with director to ensure training investment and opportunities are in keeping with technology advancement strategy.
  • Support Professional Learning (30%)
  • Work with LTC staff to develop and facilitate technology-related programming in various modes and on topics based on identified needs.
  • Develop methodologies for evaluation and measurement of programming effectiveness.
  • Compile data on participation in and evaluation of LTC programs.
  • Develop and deliver instruction and/or resources to support LTC services, as needed.
  • Other Duties as Assigned (10%)

  • Participate in ICIT, campus-wide projects, and other projects as assigned.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

    Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $57,000 – $65,000 based on the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.
