Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin, Department of Anesthesiology, is searching for a full stack web developer to design, develop and maintain the departments websites. The successful candidate will have experience in both front-end and back-end website development tasks. Well qualified candidates will have knowledge of best practices in user experience, responsive design, and universal design principals.

Responsibilities:

Leads and participates in the design, development, layout, coding, maintenance, and support of websites and applications to meet the needs of functional users. Designs, develops, and deploys custom interactive web applications and integrates logically designed databases.
  • 10% Evaluates and implements open source and commercial products to meet project needs
  • 30% Designs, develops, and deploys web applications and integrate databases based on relevant website coding scripts
  • 10% Serves as a subject matter expert, consultant, and main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding website and application options, design, maintenance, and support
  • 10% Investigates, resolves, and recommends solutions to website problems and performance issues such as speed of access
  • 10% Contributes to website strategy and recommends changes to leadership
  • 10% Monitors website use and trends, status of projects, and reviews work for completion/quality
  • 10% Designs department websites and maintains operations including implementing the content management system (CMS), making content updates, conducting content audits, & updating computer programming languages which may include HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • 10% Answers routine to moderately complex questions and provides information, creates documentation, and trains end users regarding hardware, software, applications, and technology access

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is required
- Working knowledge of PHP and WordPress
- Working knowledge of Linux and Apache

Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Web development preferred
- Ability to develop and support web applications using languages such as PHP
- Experience with SQL database programming preferred
- Knowledge of Qualtrics and Goggle Analytics
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to staff members with differing degrees of computer literacy.
- Outstanding customer service skills and a commitment to providing personalized user support
