Assistant Crew Coach

Description

Middlebury College Crew is a club sport that operates throughout the full academic year (fall/winter/spring). It attracts a diverse, coed roster of roughly 80-100 athletes. It is the largest club team on the Middlebury campus and competes throughout the fall and spring seasons at regattas such as Head of the Charles, the New England Rowing Championship (NERC), Dad Vail Regatta, and American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championships.

Responsibilities include working closely in daily training with athletes on both the men's and women's squads, prioritizing both on and off water safety of those athletes, helping run practice sessions Monday thru Friday evenings plus Saturday mornings, traveling with the team during the spring training trip, and assisting at all regattas throughout the fall and spring season.

The ideal candidate can communicate effectively with the head coach, be adaptable, and possess a positive attitude. The ability and commitment to help develop and maintain a positive team culture where all members of the community can thrive is a must.


Schedule varies with the season- at high need times, Monday-Friday plus race weekends. Fewer hours in the off season.


This is considered a part time non benefits eligible non-exempt position with a limited Term. The minimum salary for this position is $17.00 per hour.


The term for this position runs September 5th to May 27th.

Requirements
On-the-water launch driving experience and boater's license required. Trailer driving experience preferred but not required.

Must maintain an active membership with USRowing, and be up-to-date on SafeSport training.

Competitive experience at the college and/or masters level required, with previous coaching experience preferred but not required.
