Job Summary
To teach the undergraduate courses(History) in the Department of Social Sciences:
- HI 111 World Civilization
- HI 112 World Civilization
- HI 205 United States History
- HI 326 The Old South
- HI 347 Civil War and Reconstruction
- HI 460 Twentieth Century Europe
- HI 501 Historiography
- HI 506 Afro-American History
- Communicate effectively with individuals and groups
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of common learning management systems such as BANNER and CANVAS
- Proficient with standard office applications on personal computers
- Proven ability to work with departments across all levels of the University
- Provide support for continuous process improvement of the academic programs and the department
- Demonstrate knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching adult students; instruct, manage, motivate, mentor, evaluate and advise them;
- Interact with students in an appropriate, professional manner;
- Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course;
- Help students reach their academic, personal, and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects diversity, modeling respect and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn;
- Comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, student performance data, attendance policies, textbook choices, and assessments;
- Attend classes regularly, maintain active syllabi, and return reports, credentials, and other requested documents in a timely manner;
- Maintain effective written and communication with chair or designee;
- Comply with all legal and ethical obligations, including FERPA, ADA, and other regulatory legislation;
- Participate in training/workshops that are mandated for instructors.
