Office of Research and Innovation: The Pre-award Grant Administrator will provide proposal preparation, budget development, and Cayuse electronic research administration system support to PIs. As part of the Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) team, the Pre-award Grant Administrator will also participate in developing and offering training activities and other special events sponsored by the office. We welcome applicants to join the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) as part of a small, collaborative team of research professionals who support the growing research enterprise at Miami University. This is an entry level pre-award position reporting to the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs. Miami University recognizes that technology enables us to find new ways of providing first class service and workplace flexibility.  This position is approved for remote work on a full-time basis with occasional meetings on the Oxford, Ohio, campus and following a successful period of onboarding.  Remote work is a working arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason.

The Pre-Award Grant Administrator will:

  • Assist PI’s with various aspects of proposal preparation including:
    • Dev­­­­eloping budgets Entering and reviewing Cayuse records for internal routing and approval Gathering institutional data and other information needed for proposals Completing forms required for proposal submission Reviewing and submitting proposals
    Prepare and reviews subawards and agreements
  • Participate as part of the RSP team with the development and presentation of proposal-writing and grant-writing workshops
  • Work with PIs on non-financial post award matters including grant modifications and grant transfers
  • Help PIs to locate campus resources to support grant management

Required: High School diploma with 4 years of professional experience in budgeting, administration, and technical writing.

             Position not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Consideration may be given to candidates with an Associate’s degree, prior pre-award research administration experience; expertise with Cayuse or other electronic research administration system; experience with grants management systems (e.g. NSF Fastlane/Research.gov, NIH eRA Commons, ASPIRE, Proposal Central, etc.); excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to prioritize and work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment; attention to detail while providing accurate and timely support to PIs; proficiency in MS Office Word and Excel.
