Job Summary:

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC)program and psychology department in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Marist College invites applications for one tenure track position of Assistant Professor of CMHC and Psychology to begin the fall of 2023.

This position is a core faculty member in the MA CMHC program. The counselor educator will teach courses in both the graduate and undergraduate programs, but with an emphasis on graduate teaching. The MA CMHC program is an independent classroom-based program housed within the psychology department. Graduate courses are offered in the evenings.

We seek candidates prepared to teach courses in the CACREP common core curricular counseling domains.

Applicants should be flexible about teaching assignments. We welcome candidates who will place an emphasis on quality teaching in a small classroom setting and who can expertly integrate relevant sociocultural, diversity, and social justice advocacy content and issues into their teaching. Minimum Qualifications:

A Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision by spring of 2023 is required. License-eligible or licensed in NY State as a Mental Health Counselor.

Essential Functions:
  • Primary responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate instruction with an expectation of competence in the use of instructional technology
  • Responsible for advisement of students
  • Participation in counseling program and departmental activities
  • Active research agenda
Preferred Qualifications:

College level teaching experience is preferred. A doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program is preferred, but not required. Experience with CACREP standards and accreditation procedures is also preferred.

The CMHC program is an independent program housed within the psychology department, under the umbrella of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Each year, approximately 30 graduate students are enrolled in our 2- and 3-year program tracks.
