Job Details

Woodbury University invites applications for the Senior International Advisor position. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students in the Student Affairs, the Sr International Student Advisor is responsible for designing and delivering services and programs that facilitate the educational, professional, and personal success of international students at Woodbury University.

Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                                    

  • Advise international students on immigration, visa, employment, cultural and transition matters.
  • Perform the full range of responsibilities of a Designated School Official and maintain accurate records as required by the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Develop and implement services and programs to meet the needs of our growing international student population.
  • Coordinate International Orientation and International/Out-of-State Welcome Week activities.
  • Develop and update international student informational materials.
  • Advise the International Peer Advisors.
  • Actively collaborate with other campus departments (such as Admissions and Registrar’s Offices) to seamlessly serve international students.
  • Develop campus-wide programming to promote cultural integration and sensitivity.
  • Assume duties and responsibilities as international student organizations advisor as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

The following are the minimum qualifications required for the position.

Successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Master’s degree preferred, Student Affairs or a related field; three years of full-time experience in student affairs; demonstrated knowledge and implementation of best practices in student development; direct experience with SEVIS and F-1 Visa regulations; a willingness to work evening and weekend hours as appropriate; evidence of strong organizational, interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills; and a genuine interest and satisfaction in working directly with students. Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident as required by federal regulations for those who serve as a Designated School Official.

This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (CSA) based on the job functions: 

  • A Campus Security Authority (CSA) is an individual, who by virtue of their university responsibilities and under the Clery Act, is designated to receive and report criminal incidents to the Department of Public Safety so that they may be included and published in the university's Annual Security 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Close vision, hearing/listening, and clear speech.
  • Manual hand/fingers dexterity.
  • Walking, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to utilize office equipment such as computers and copiers
  • Combination of sedentary work, kneeling, stooping, bending, sitting, squatting, standing, etc.
  • Works with/around and has verbal and face-to-face contact with others.
  • Works indoors in an office environment majority of the time.
  • Simple to complex reading, writing, clerical, and math ability.
