Description/Job Summary
Overview:
Under the general direction of the Dean of the School, the Assistant Professor will be responsible for the instruction of students in the Cybersecurity discipline. The respective Associate Dean/Program Chair will provide the day-to-day oversight and collaborate with the Dean as necessary. This is a full-time position requiring a 40-hour a week workload. Each semester, this position requires a teaching load of 15 instruction hours and a minimum of five hours a week for office hours. Also, the Assistant Professor is required to obtain a minimum of 24 hours of professional development annually. The Assistant Professor will also participate in departmental, college-wide, and related community activities supporting the mission and vision of Baltimore City Community College (BCCC).
Responsibilities/Duties
Essential Functions:
Candidates must be able to teach administrative, technical, analytical, theoretical, communication, and organizational courses pedagogy in the Cyber Security and Assurance Program required for graduates to perform successfully in the ever-changing competitive cybersecurity environment.
Position-Specific Requirements:
This position typically works in standard classroom and office environments, generally free from hazardous or unpleasant physical conditions. Work involves minimal risk and observance of safety precautions typical of modern classroom and office settings. The work environment is highly diverse and demands a high level of cultural competence in interpersonal communications and interactions.
Physical Demands:
The work entails sitting for extended periods and frequently standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching. Work requires eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, near vision acuity, and the ability to see and read printed material and computer screens. Duties involve oral, written, electronic and telephonic communication; typing; and lifting and transporting supplies/materials.

- Specialize in the planning, coordinating, implementing, and modifying cybersecurity courses and programs to ensure relevant and up-to-date content. Using a multilayered approach, specialize in cybersecurity skills to teach students how to protect against Web threats that result in cybercrime, including malware, phishing, viruses, denial-of-service attacks (DoS)/distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS), information warfare and hacking;
- Demonstrate a strong desire to excel inside and out of the classroom and provide ongoing support for student success;
- Based on Master Syllabus, design and teach assigned class session(s), leveraging digital content and multimedia resources in the classroom;
- Assess student engagement/understanding during each class session;
- Collect, grade, and report assignments and homework;
- Assess and monitor student progress and understanding throughout the course;
- Remediate student’s lack of prerequisite knowledge;
- Offer content help through various means;
- Select course materials as they reflect the Master Syllabus;
- Upload the syllabi, readings and homework on Canvas;
- Maintain and update the syllabi and course materials;
- Set up and teach online Web-based or virtual face-to-face courses as applicable;
- Create new digital instructional materials;
- Exhibit a spirit of inquiry about teaching and learning, student development, and evaluation methods;
- Use evidence-based resources to improve and support teaching;
- Share teaching expertise with colleagues and others;
- Demonstrate integrity as a scholar;
- Provide required office hours for student advising and assistance;
- Effectively communicate with students via email, phone, or online discussion boards;
- Provide academic advice and guidance to students;
- Submit grades on time via the faculty portal;
- Manage incompletes and makeups assignments as needed;
- Participate in departmental events, student programs, and related activities;
- Maintain and update procedures/policies in relation to changes in federal regulations/requirements in conjunction with program faculty;
- Accept special assignments which may be required to maintain the quality and growth of the department;
- Assist in Academic registration of students in discipline area as assigned;
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Position-Specific Requirements:
- Demonstrated and documented excellence in teaching;
- Experience working in multicultural community college setting;
- Proven experience in working collaboratively with and supporting peers in departmental, organizational, and/or community endeavors;
- Knowledge of and adherence to professional protocol;
- Excellent and effective English language proficiency including oral, written, and interpersonal communication;
- Knowledge and experience in writing and designing student learning outcomes, assessments, and program review and reporting;

Required Qualifications
Minimum Education and Training Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology with a concentration on cybersecurity related courses;
- Four years of teaching experience, preferably in a Community College;
- Work experience in a related cybersecurity field.
- Cybersecurity related certifications such as CompTIA’s A+, Net+, Sec+, CEH, CISSP, CCNA or other relevant Cybersecurity certifications.
