Professorship Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Technologies (M/F/D)

We are looking for a full-time professor (or two part-time professors for at least 50% or 20 hours/week) to develop and manage our new degree program in AI & Sustainable Technologies, which was recently accredited and will launch in October 2022. As a Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Technologies, you will act as a subject matter expert and become part of the founding academic team taking responsibility for developing academic and teaching activities related to the bachelor’s program. The position holder will also have the opportunity to take a leading role in shaping academic affairs and university governance practices of the newly founded University of Applied Sciences.

 

Job responsibilities: 

  • Development, structure, and initial course management for the bachelor's degree program Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Technologies

  • Planning, content creation, and implementation of introductory and in-depth asynchronous courses with synchronous teaching components in the fields of data science, AI, and/or sustainable technologies

  • Planning and implementation of research projects including publication activities

  • Advising and supervising students

  • Developing appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assessing the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria, and providing constructive feedback to students

  • Supervising student projects, challenges, and bachelor’s theses

  • Establishing partnerships with companies and research institutions

  • Administrative activities, academic governance, and committee work

  • Advising prospective students

 

Your Profile:

  • Completed relevant university studies (e.g. in artificial intelligence, sustainable technologies, computer science, data science, machine learning, and other subjects may be considered if relevant to entrepreneurship, business innovation, and/or sustainability)
  • Fulfillment of the minimum requirements for the employment of professors according to §68 HHG:
    • Successfully completed a doctorate (Ph.D.), i.e. proof of qualification for scientific work

    • Qualified professional experience of at least five years, three of which must have been gained outside academic institutions.

  • Ability to create and conduct courses in English

  • Publication and research activity in the field(s) of data science, AI, sustainable technologies, and/or business innovation and entrepreneurship, ideally in a combination of one or more of these

  • Ability to work in a team and strong communication skills

  • Organizational skills and hands-on mentality

  • Enthusiasm and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience in a start-up environment and multi-project management desired

  • International experience at universities desired
