Job Description:

Position Summary

The Non-Credit Instructor, Biotech Bootcamp Teach a non-credit workforce development training program in biomanufacturing. This workshop is designed to provide a broad overview of biomanufacturing topics to introduce students new to the industry to basic concepts to prepare for entry-level biomanufacturing roles. The Biotech Bootcamp is three months in duration, with classes typically held three evenings per week.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Instruction and Program Support

Facilitates learning of Workshop topics including: Biotechnology Industry Overview; Safety; Measurements in the Laboratory; Good Manufacturing Practices; Good Documentation Practices; Contamination Control and Aseptic Processes; Cleanroom Gowning; Operational Excellence in Manufacturing; Materials Handling; Process Control; Upstream and Downstream Processes; FDA Regulations and Clinical Trials.

Collaborates with other team members to assure program success and sustainability. Communicates with the lab instructor(s) on workshop progress and individual student needs to ensure a seamless student experience between lecture-based class days and lab-based class days. Assists, as appropriate, in the maintenance of instructional materials and facilities. Assists, as appropriate, in the maintenance of course descriptions, course outlines, and syllabi.

Customer Services and Classroom Support

Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives. Communicates progress in the course to students promptly. Determines and submits students' grades in accordance with established college policies and procedures. Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies.

Assists in the identification of students with academic or other needs and responds by utilizing appropriate resources. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance, and works as required to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.

The employee regularly stands and walks for extended periods of time, and occasionally sits. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of up to 10 pounds when moving files, boxes and other materials.

Working Conditions

Virtual instruction and/or typical office/academic environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices. Must travel to various Columbus State campuses and sites.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: biomanufacturing industrial operations, standards, and regulations. Knowledge of workshop topics. adult learning theory; delivering adult instruction; communication and computer; organizing and coordinating training programs. Skilled in: communication, verbal, non-verbal and written: ensures understanding, adjusting to audience; maintaining the audience's attention; present in logical manner and summarize information to audience; defining clear goals. Ability to: focus on the customer; educate and understand customer's needs and concerns; follow a logical sequence; use learning aids; build collaborative relationships; effectively work with persons of varying cultures and diversity; problem solve effectively; exhibit a pleasant public manner; originate correspondence; work independently demonstrating initiative; maintain accurate and complete work records; apply analytical thinking; maintain good public relations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate of Applied Sciences Degree. Three (3) years of experience working in a GMP manufacturing facility. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
