Position Summary:
This position, reporting to the Director of Advancement Communications, will be responsible for implementing effective internal and external communications by collaborating on communication and marketing efforts that promote alumni events, programming and engagement in the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) at the University of Idaho. The position advances the goals of OAR by creating purposeful and on-brand communications. It uses a variety of electronic media and tools to coordinate engagement between alumni and the university, and alumni with one another. The incumbent also leads marketing of OAR services and programs and is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, producing and editing content intended for alumni audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related fields
  • Experience managing projects independently that involve multiple stakeholders
  • 3 years of experience in social media content creation/management
  • Experience in developing strategic communication plans
  • Experience in editing and writing social media and marketing materials using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with project management tools
  • Experience in editing and writing stories that are inspirational and educational and crafting narratives that are compelling and engaging
  • Ability to be flexible with assignments and multiple priorities
  • Ability to learn new skills as the opportunities or the need arise
  • Experience working in higher education

  • Occasionally work extended hours and weekends to ensure content development is timely and relevant to the audience to ensure the highest engagement
