Organizational Unit Overview

 

Internal Medicine is a department within the Division of Health Sciences and Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The Department of Internal Medicine is comprised of ten divisions with over 85 full time faculty and 150 support staff members. Each of the divisions has its own specialty clinic.

 

Internal Medicine is home to seven fellowships and two residency programs. In recent years collaboration and funding have come from many national recognized organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, Health Resources and Service Administration, American Heart Association, NC Department of Human Health and Human Service. More locally, we have partnered with ECU Health (formerly Vidant) Medical Center Foundation, Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, North Carolina Biotechnology Center, and the Pitt County Health Department. Additionally, Internal Medicine participates in many pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials.

 

We collaborate with Department of Pediatrics, the Department of Surgery, and the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences within the Brody School of Medicine. The Department of Internal Medicine has a close affiliation with ECU Health Medical Center and serves a diverse population in eastern North Carolina. ECU Health Medical Center, a 974 bed tertiary care teaching facility, serves as the primary teaching and clinical care venue for an integrated nine hospital hub and spoke system. Job Duties              

 

We have an exceptional opportunity to join our neurology division in the Department of Internal Medicine of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. We are located in Greenville, North Carolina and serve a referral base of over 1.3 million people from a 29 county area in eastern North Carolina.

 

The neurology division, ECU Physicians Neurology, offers neurodiagnostic modalities including polysomnography, EMG, ENG and EEG. ECU Health Physicians (formerly ECU Physicians) also owns and operates an ACR-accredited MRI diagnostic imaging center.

 

The Division of Neurology at East Carolina University seeks a pediatric neurologist to perform evaluation and management of pediatric neurology patients in our ambulatory office. The successful candidate will also actively participate in the inpatient pediatric neurology service of the practice at ECU Health Medical Center which involves rounding on patients on the pediatric neurology inpatient service, attending to pediatric neurology consultations from the medical staff and regional hospitals; being on call for night and weekend duty. The successful candidate will also participate in the teaching programs of medical students and residents at the Brody School of Medicine.

 

The successful candidate will join our academic group in a probationary term (tenure-track) or fixed-term appointment at the rank/title of Assistant Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Professor or Clinical Professor, commensurate with qualifications.

 

Minimum Education/Experience       

 

  • MD or DO Degree from an appropriately accredited institution. Board certification/ board eligibility by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with a certification in Pediatric Neurology

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation           

 

  • North Carolina medical license will be required before employment.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education           

 

  • Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Pediatrics would be a plus as would pertinent subspecialties.
