Job Summary

To teach undergraduate courses for the freshman seminar classes in University Life and Survival Skills 1 and Survival Skills II

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE OF :
  • Counseling techniques of learning and human development, and relevant and desirable student learning outcomes, including intellectual growth, realistic self-appraisal, enhanced self-esteem, clarified values, career choices and achievement of personal and educational goals
  • Knowledge of campus-wide processes and resources
  • Classroom management to maintain complete control for learning development
  • FERPA rules and regulations regarding student’s information
SKILLS TO:
  • Communicate effectively, both oral and written, with students
  • Efficiently use computer technology to navigate information to assist students
  • Deliver proper instructions for academic enhancement of students Demonstrate strong interpersonal and conflict resolution
ABILITY TO :
  • Be organized and complete administrative tasks as required, and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Exhibit tact, diplomacy and judgment in dealing with students
  • Interact effectively with campus constituents
  • Work independently; demonstrate strong commitment to details and follow-through
Essential Job Functions
  1. Facilitate classroom instructions
  2. Provide necessary guidance in reference to courses
  3. Provide academic support
  4. Grade homework assignments, quizzes, and tests
  5. Maintain appropriate office hours
  6. Submit mid-term and final grades according to university guidelines
  7. Meet with the dean as needed


Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree required with at least three years of experience teaching in a related area
  2. Possess excellent oral and written communications skills
  3. Experience working with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds
