Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of HR Technology & Payroll Operations, the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Operations Manager is responsible for management and oversight of the daily operations of the HRIS department, including the direct supervision of the HRIS Analysts. This position ensures accurate best practice business processes are in place and is responsible for maintaining policies, procedures, and solutions. The HRIS Operations Manager will provide overall direction, support, and training of the functional aspects of a variety of systems including, but not limited to: Banner, Hyperion, and Web*Financials suite. This role is responsible for analyzing and managing all functional related activities within HRIS.

Essential Functions
  • Leads the HRIS team in managing the day-to-day activities to support HR, payroll, and other interrelated functions
  • Provides overall prioritization of work assignments and management of functional team resources and their activities
  • Researches and resolves HRIS problems, unexpected results and/or process flaws. Provides process improvement recommendations to create a high level of efficiency. Develops operational workflows, identifies problems and trends
  • Identifies possible solutions and works with colleagues to develop improvements, modifications, and enhancements
  • Supports small client base to maintain connection with the operations of end-user constituents
  • Manages maintenance, consistency, and accuracy of all data flow / input into Banner HR
  • Ensures high level of data integrity via regular audits and quality control checks
  • Develops and maintains user friendly procedures, guidelines, and documentations for both internal and external use
  • Collaborates with IT staff on review, testing, and implementation of system upgrades
  • Trains internal HR users and external University end-users on HRIS systems
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of university policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • In collaboration with Executive Director, develops functional specifications and system design specifications for projects. Creates, reviews and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution. Represents the users in design changes to functionality, forms, reports, etc.; Works with the users to develop best practices across locations
  • Maintains Banner HR databases and electronic systems to support Human Resources Information Systems. Collaborates with IT Administrators and functional areas to develop and implement system needs
  • Collaborates with all HR functional areas to ensure quality control and customer service expectations
  • Works closely with the Budget Office and Payroll departments to ensure accuracy and meet deadlines
  • Administers salary budget process including year end and all adjustments
  • Administers systems merit process
  • Authorizes and requests system access and manages system and security access and issues for the user community
  • This includes monitoring and a routine review on the appropriateness of end-user security access
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a higher education environment
  • Finance and/or salary budgeting experience required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Functional knowledge of HR processes
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound judgment and ability to deal effectively with matters of a highly visible and confidential nature
