Department Summary

The Lundquist College of Business (LCB) is one of seven schools housing academic programs on the University of Oregon campus located in Eugene, Oregon. The College works cooperatively with other UO Colleges and Schools to prepare students for a broad range of career paths. There are approximately 50 full-time faculty members, 48 instructors and pro tem instructors, 40 administrative positions, 30 staff members, 1,200 undergraduate majors, 2,250 pre-business majors, 1,200 undergraduate minors, 170 master's students and 30 doctoral students.

The School of Accounting's curriculum is designed for students who want to prepare for a career in public, corporate, or governmental accounting or who want to embark on a management career with a strong accounting emphasis.

The School provides undergraduate and masters students with excellent conceptual and technical skills that will allow them to excel in productive and successful careers as future business leaders. The school also actively contributes to creating knowledge by conducting and publishing high-quality scholarly research, and by training PhD students to become future teachers and scholars.
Position Summary

The School of Accounting maintains a pool of candidates interested in filling pro tempore positions as needs arise. Pro Tem positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. Pro tempore faculty work under the supervision of the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research and/or the requisite department head. This pool may also be used to fill non-tenure track career appointments as openings arise.

The Department is seeking talented faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning to teach accounting at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are currently seeking pro tem faculty to teach the following courses in particular, however, other courses in the department could become available. These courses are scheduled to be conducted on campus and in the classroom with social distancing and other safeguards in place:
  • ACTG 211, Introduction to Accounting
  • ACTG 410, Professional Ethics
  • ACTG 610, Tax Research
  • ACTG 610, Tax Pass Through
  • BA 215, Language of Business Decision

    Candidates should be strongly committed to quality undergraduate and graduate instruction, service to students, and contributing positively to our diverse community and to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    Minimum Requirements

    Instructors of Undergraduate Level Courses: Masters degree in relevant field preferred (in exceptional circumstances, bachelors with significant professional and teaching experience in relevant field may be substituted for an advanced degree).

    Instructors of Graduate Level Courses: Masters degree in relevant field or advanced degree with significant professional experience in relevant field required (in exceptional circumstances, bachelors with significant professional and teaching experience in relevant field may be substituted for an advanced degree).
    Professional Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that will enhance community relations and support undergraduate/graduate student training
  • Demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching
    Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or other doctorate and demonstrated teaching experience.
