This is a full-time benefits-eligible position. Protects students, faculty, staff, visitors and University of Central Missouri property. Officers enforce state statutes, city ordinances, University rules and regulations, and policies of University of Central Missouri. Helps to ensure that University of Central Missouri maintains an atmosphere that is supportive of the educational process. Completion of at least 60 college credit hours is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred. Computer Skills Word-Processing Experience
Missouri Police Officer Licensed or currently enrolled in the police academy preferred. Other Experience Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements of Position: Police background check, Criminal History check, Fingerprinting, Driver's license, Missouri license required Other Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements
Must obtain and maintain Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training ( POST ) license as mandated by state law.
Must attend and successfully pass the basic Police Academy as prescribed by Missouri Department of Public Safety for state police officers.
Minimum 21 years of age at time of appointment.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with University students, employees, and volunteers, as well as, other law enforcement and public safety agencies.
Ability to apply complex laws and court decision to situations and people in conflict.
Ability to deal courteously and authoritatively with the public.
Ability to hear and discern radio traffic.
Must pass and maintain qualification courses with issue pistol and shotgun.
Must be physically able to perform defensive tactic skills after being trained (i.e., unilateral vascular neck restraint, handgun retention, handcuffing techniques, and defensive tactics).
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws.
Knowledge of University regulations preferred.
Knowledge of effective law enforcement practices, methods, procedures, and standards.
Knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use and operation of police equipment and law enforcement.
Knowledge of UCM physical grounds and facilities, including building plans, mechanical access, roof access, and safety routes preferred.
