Faculty, Theater Technical Director

Miami Dade College, New World School of the Arts, Wolfson Campus is now accepting applications for the Faculty, Theater Technical Director position.  This faculty teaches theater courses in a professionally focused curriculum for NWSA High School and Bachelor of Fine Arts college degree programs, teaching stagecraft constructing sets and supervising college and high school construction crews. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in stagecraft at the high school and/or college level
  • Plan the construction of sets, construct sets, purchase necessary materials, maintain projected schedules and budgets for the Main Stage shows and or other productions with respect to scenery, lighting, sound, and properties
  • Maintain the theater, shop, studios and stage spaces, equipment, and tools
  • Maintain inventories of all equipment
  • Supervise student crews in the construction, setup, rehearsal and run of all mainstages shows. Keep attendance, evaluate the performance of those crews
  • Advise the production manager in determining budgets, scheduling, and crews
  • Oversee and promote safety in all activities, including safety with respect to students, faculty, and staff, audiences and patrons and physical plant equipment
  • Participate in production meetings and all other department, division, campus and college committees and assignments

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree of Fine Arts in Theater; or master’s degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Theater Professional theater experience as a technical director
  • Three years minimum teaching experience in a college and or university setting
  • Flexibility to work a flexible schedule to accommodate rehearsals, performances, juries, auditions, including production in-load, build and strike and other departmental and school activities
