The Director provides leadership and coordination for the development, and administration of the high school dual credit program. The Director builds relationships with high schools across College of the Mainland service area to increase dual credit enrollment by assessing the needs of high school students and school districts, coordinating with instruction to provide courses in response to those needs, implementing marketing and promotion strategies to ensure participation, providing admission and registration support services, and overseeing orientation and administrative support for students, parents, and faculty.

The Director ensures that the dual credit program is administered in accord with standards established by COM policies and procedures, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The position will create systems to track and document that dual credit guidelines are being met and is responsive to changing technologies and advances in delivery. Minimum Education/Training/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years of experience in higher education.
  • A strong commitment to the mission of the community college.
  • Experience in organizing, developing, and implementing operational systems and guidelines.
  • Experience with and in managing a high-volume workflow office.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Bilingual (English/Spanish) Minimum Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent administrative, communication, interpersonal and leaderships skills.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills in handling and directing multiple and complex assignments and projects.
  • Proficiency with use of email, work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and use of the internet.
  • Applicable computer programs and equipment.

None Job Duties
  • Provides leadership and oversight for the development, expansion, and administration of the College’s dual credit program in accord with standards established by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships ( NACEP ).
  • Promotes the growth, development, marketing, and administration of the dual credit program, including the development and dissemination of guidelines for instructors, schools, students, and academic departments, making presentations at schools, initiating formal agreements with schools, recommending policy and procedural changes, overseeing orientation activities for students and instructors, coordinating with academic departments at the College, solving problems, and responding to constituencies in a timely manner.
  • Develops and implements an advising and communication plan that assists parents and students to better understand dual credit and make informed decisions relative to education and career goals and works with high schools to establish the value of providing dual credit through College of the Mainland.
  • Contributes to the achievement of the College’s recruitment and retention goals by identifying opportunities in the marketplace for expansion and collaborating with academic departments, the offices of admissions, and enrollment management to build a diverse and responsive dual credit program that encourages dual credit students to consider attending College of the Mainland upon graduation.
  • Works cooperatively with marketing and communications staff to develop and implement effective recruitment and marketing strategies related to the dual credit program, including assistance with web content, preparation of publications, distribution of brochures and catalogs, etc.
  • Makes regular high school visits representing the College of the Mainland in a professional manner, develops relationships with high schools across the service area, and utilizes technology-based enrollment processes to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel to ensure customer satisfaction and optimal enrollment outcomes.
  • Establishes dual credit goals and assessments that will guide and inform the program, uses data to track student enrollment patterns to identify trends and determine direction, and disseminates outcomes to various audiences as appropriate.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the Vice President for Student Services.
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require keyboarding, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
