Special Information

This position is posted as Director of Football Operations and Player Personnel, which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Athletic Operations Coordinator, Senior.

Job Description

Program Oversight - 95%
  • Assist the head football coach with oversight, organization and management of a Division 1 football program.
  • Serve as the main liaison to the football program's support staffs including but not limited to athletics administration, equipment, sports information, athletic training, etc.
  • Coordinate all travel arrangements for away games. This position is responsible for hotels, flights, meals, local transportation, itineraries, roster changes, any extra purchases made while on the road, and keeping track of all bills and receipts.
  • Assist with all aspects of the recruiting program to include but not limited to managing the recruiting database, procurement of recruiting services, organize the recruiting communication plan via mail/email/social media/etc., plan and execute plans for unofficial/official visits/junior days, liaise and coordinate parent activities on official visit as well to oversee all office management responsibilities as assigned by HFC.
  • Assist the Head Football Coach in the management of the football program's current roster, scholarship allocations, and walk on program. Liaise NCAA/EC, liaise compliance to manage all roster adds/deletes, tracers, etc.
  • Develop, monitor, and oversee the annual budget for the football program, including monthly budget reports for operations, recruiting, travel, and the foundation balance.
  • Serve as the liaison to professional scouts.
  • Prepare and reconcile purchase card logs, recruiting travel, official visit, and team travel paperwork.
  • Coordinate the Head Football Coach's internal and external calendars; player 1/1 meetings, administrative meetings, media events, speaking engagements, correspondence.
  • Coordinate the football programs annual calendar.
  • Represent the football program and head coach at various campus and community meetings and events.
  • Coordinate and organize annual football camps.
  • Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of college athletic administration experience.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and guidelines.
  • Experience making operational decisions within program policy and procedure.
  • Experience managing sensitive organizational information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse student athletes and coaches.
  • Familiarity and experience with how a Division NCAA football program operates.

All coaches have a duty to cooperate with and furnish the NCAA, Big Sky Conference and NAU with complete information concerning involvement in or knowledge of rules violations as mandated by NCAA. Bylaw 10.1. Satisfactory rules knowledge and rules compliance are conditions of employment. This position, in particular, will fully participate and cooperate in compliance related activities, procedures and evaluation. Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. If you are applying for a job that requires a CDL, you will be required to register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and adhere to the clearinghouse requirements. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Salary

Anticpated salary range is $36,018 - $45,023. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

Benefits

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits.
