Job Summary
The Learning Management Systems (LMS) Administrator provides application administration and support for the LMS, its associated components (plug-ins and integrations), and other related systems. The LMS Administrator, in collaboration with other members of the Academic Systems team, assists teaching & learning applications in all facets of administration, documentation, and training. The ideal candidate will maintain a strong customer focus, support Simmons University's commitment to diversity, practice and promote teamwork, work independently, maintain confidentiality, adhere to high standards of personal conduct, and maintain and enhance professional/job competency.
Possessing strong analyst and developer skills, the individual provides tier-2 and tier-3 technical support, develops and monitors processes geared to proactively detect system issues, creates and maintains system documentation, and develops training resources. The LMS Administrator partners with other peers within Technology to complete product and infrastructure upgrades.
This position can be considered for remote work agreement (a hybrid schedule spending some time remote and in-person). The candidate will need to complete an initial onboarding process and continue to meet the required performance standards to remain eligible for a partial remote work schedule.

Essential Responsibilities
- Provide daily operational support to Simmons' LMS. Triage,
assess, and provide solutions for tickets submitted by the user
community of faculty, students, and staff. Engage end-users and
partner teams in troubleshooting issues and finding solutions. As
applicable, redirect tickets to the appropriate functional and
supporting offices;
- Create and maintain product and process
documentation;
- Prepare communications for maintenance periods, upgrades, and
outages;
- Recommend, plan, develop, test, execute, and validate product
enhancements, customizations, and upgrades;
- Plan, design, develop, test, execute, and validate changes to
simplify and optimize the environment;
- Coordinate with Technology staff to ensure successful
deployments;
- Collaborate with vendors as needed to implement LMS integration
projects;
- Develop and maintain processes that proactively detect
performance issues with systems through reports and
alerts.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required plus at least three to five plus
(5+) years' experience supporting Learning Management Systems in an
academic setting required;
- Good analytical skills for addressing complex technical
problems, and critical thinking skills to provide recommended
solutions;
- A good understanding of and an ability to apply best practices
and pedagogy for online and blended learning;
- Experienced LMS Admin skills with a strong preference for
Moodle Admin experience. Experience with other systems, such as
Canvas, will be considered;
- Good written and verbal communication skills and experience
interacting with faculty, staff and students.
