Position Summary: The Assistant Dean of Student Life is responsible for collaborating with others to create a comprehensive residence life program, and serve in a leadership role with a team of student affairs professionals working to create a community that supports the mission of Interlochen Center for the Arts. The Assistant Dean is a full time, year round position that is responsible for supporting a healthy community of students and staff in the residence halls.

The Assistant Dean of Student Life is also the leader of student engagement processes at Interlochen and supports student success. Responsibilities include:

  • Direct supervision of the Directors of Residence Life, meeting with them weekly, providing feedback, and supporting them as needed

  • Creating processes related to the student engagement program, tracking student points, and following up accordingly

  • Overseeing the budget for Academy residence life

  • Creating a structure to manage Alerts so there is adequate follow-up and support provided to the student in need

  • Member of Core Team to update others and provide feedback

  • Liaising among various stakeholders to provide consistent care and support to students

  • Playing a key part in creating Senior Instructor of Residence Life training

  • Creating and maintaining the ongoing professional development curriculum for Residence Life staff

  • Working with the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to provide professional development opportunities, community support, and to follow-up on related student issues

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years experience in:

  • leadership and supervision

  • mentoring and guiding young people

  • supervising others
