Summary:       

Performs a variety of technical tasks related to maintaining a department's computer network and system.

 

Duties/Physical Demands:

Installs and configures hardware and software into department's computer system.

Troubleshoots computer problems; investigates and resolves hardware and software difficulties.

Trains department users in new software applications.

Designs and programs software applications for department use.

Performs technical and administrative tasks which may include configuring computers for networking system, providing technical advice, resolving network printer problems, creating documentation, and ordering supplies.

May assist in supervising student employees.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires six months of coursework or training beyond high school in Computer Science and three years experience in maintaining computer networks and systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

Knowledge of computer hardware and software

Knowledge of programming and programming languages

Knowledge of networking systems

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Periodic assignments given which entail dealing with modestly unpleasant physical situations (i.e. near-continuous use of computer).
