Job Summary/Basic Function:
Provide supervision of custodial and furniture movement services to the College community. Train staff and coordinate daily schedules and activities. Evaluate staff performance. Assist the Manager with hiring and disciplinary actions. Evaluate and make recommendations about service improvements. Complete administrative and operational reports as needed.
1. Custodial services and furniture movement. Schedule staff and activities. Train staff and evaluate
performance. Conduct regular inspections. Assist the Manager with hiring and disciplinary actions. Assist Building Service Workers with assignments as needed.
2. Assist with College functions and events. Ensure that the facilities for functions and events are
appropriately cleaned. Work overtime as necessary and have flexibility in shift hours.
3. Maintain security and safety guidelines. See that security of assigned areas is maintained and that safety rules and regulations are carried out. Respond to reports of defective or unsafe conditions.
4. Administrative responsibilities. Evaluate, provide recommendations and implement approved changes to continuously improve departmental productivity and service. Complete administrative and operational reports as needed.
5. Attend training seminars and meetings as agreed upon with the Manager. Operate college vehicles in a safe and reasonable manner.
6. Ensure the employees have a safe work environment and are knowledgeable and properly trained in the use of all equipment used but the department.
7. Respond to all requests and complaints in a professional, courteous and timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of experience in custodial and customer service required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
Ability to work overtime as necessary, be on call for emergencies and have flexibility in shift hours.
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate well, with strong written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision to meet required deadlines.
Ability to work independently, resolve problems, and function as a member of a team.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safety procedures and regulatory agency requirements.
Ability to lift and move heavy furniture and operate bulky and heavy equipment.
Physically capable of lifting 40-50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Basic computer and software skills and the ability to learn/implement such knowledge in the completion of duties.
Experience in working in a college setting or in an educational field.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift and move heavy furniture and operate bulky and heavy equipment.
Physically capable of lifting 40-50 lbs.
