Job Summary:

The Office of Undergraduate Advising (OUA), which supports the advising, career services and learning support functions of the campus, seeks an equity and justice focused professional to serve as our key finance and human resources team member. We are specifically seeking candidates who are strongly committed to centering marginalized identities, justice and equity in the way they approach finance and human resources work. It is imperative that the selected candidate execute the position in service and support of our students and staff, viewing themself as a resource and advocate first and foremost. Working in strong collaboration with Department, Divisional, and campus-level colleagues, the position is responsible for all Finance, Budget and Human Resources functions for a complex department with 8 subunits that employs 50+ full time staff, 60-100 students throughout the year, and has a $3.4 million dollar budget.

This position reports to Wren Singer, OUA Director and Associate Vice Provost.

The Office of Undergraduate Advising is part of the Division for Teaching and Learning (DTL) along with the Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring (CTLM), the Wisconsin Institute for Science Education and Community Engagement (WISCIENCE), the Student Learning Assessment (SLA) office, and the Morgridge Center for Public Service.

The Office of Undergraduate Advising seeks an individual who demonstrates the ability to:

Anticipated Start Date: mid-October

Responsibilities:

Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.
  • 10% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • 20% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • 10% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • 10% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • 20% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • 10% Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
  • 20% Leads a variety of human resources support activities in the areas of recruitment, retention, classification, compensation, payroll and benefits
