Position Summary:
Support the students, faculty and staff of PNCA with timely and effective technical assistance in a broad range of topics related to PC, Mac and iOS hardware and software. Maintain and support the academic and administrative client computer systems by maintaining an effective and professional delivery of support to the end-user client base. Provide equipment checkout services to faculty, students and staff.
As an A/V Technician, work to support A/V requests related to events, especially those taking place in the PNCA Mediatheque. A/V support will include operation, set up, breakdown, and maintenance of equipment related to such events. This position also supports classroom A/V equipment, providing maintenance and support for equipment as needed.

  • Works with the Portland Tech Support team as the initial point of contact for PNCA faculty and staff with questions regarding computing, software, and the implementation of technology. Researches and recommends solutions as necessary.
  • Maintains and upgrades computer hardware and software systems throughout campus.
  • Diagnoses, fixes, and tests hardware solutions.
  • Checks out technology equipment to faculty, students and staff.
  • Maintains functionality and cleanliness of computer labs.
  • Maintains functionality of campus printers/copiers.
  • Provides engaging and effective training using a variety of technologies and delivery systems.
  • Serves as a member of PNCA Academic Technology as well as a member of WITS. Conducts training sessions on topics of particular expertise. Supports other members of PNCA Academic Technology and other groups within WITS as needed.
  • Troubleshoots A/V related service requests.
  • Trains faculty and students in the policies and use of the PNCA Mediatheque.
  • Researches hardware and solutions for Mediatheque functionality.
  • Provides Mediatheque and A/V support for students and curricular events.
  • Supports and maintains classroom A/V equipment.
  • Collaborates with other WITS A/V staff members on projects and recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience working with Mac and PC based computers, including a thorough understanding of operating systems, and commonly deployed software, like Adobe Creative Cloud, Office, and more.
  • Experience with networking, internet access, hardware / software troubleshooting and systems configuration.
  • Understanding of hardware and peripherals in an Audio/Video production environment
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both advanced and entry-level clients.
  • Ability to reside in Oregon by the first day of employment or otherwise perform work primarily in Oregon.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work experience in an institution of Higher Education or creative environment.
  • Expertise with audio and video production equipment and software.
  • Understanding of hardware and peripherals in a design, multimedia, and audio/video production environment.

*hours can be shifted to different days, but will include three work days on campus, and evening hours for lecture support.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Typical work is performed indoors in a normal office environment. Requires occasionally to lift and carry fragile equipment, regularly weighing up to 20 lbs. and occasionally weighing up to 50 lbs.
