Salary: $22.00 per hour

This is a grant-funded position. Grant-funded positions expire either at the end of the stated term or whenever funding for the position ceases.

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a part-time C-STEP Advisor in our Student Life Division. The Collegiate Science Technology Entry Program C-STEP Advisor is responsible for assisting students with their goal planning and assessments; academic advisement, program instruction and learning outcomes. As such, the C-STEP Advisor is expected to model the way, inspire confidence and encourage excellence of Mohawk Valley Community College. Equally important, assist with the creation and facilitation of enrichment activities in the C-Step Lab as outlined by the program.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Reviews student progress and tracks student use of academic support services; in addition to adjusting prescribed pathway as needs emerge;
• Consults with faculty to align efforts and assess progress in all courses in which the students are enrolled;
• Assists in the development of student internships, research projects and other specialized programs within the community;
• Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs;
• Attends college visits, other off campus events; in addition to working evenings and weekends as needed;
• Supports annual recruitment of students;
• Other duties as assigned by the C-STEP Specialist.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience with student development, learning styles and strategies, tutoring and specialized workshops. Must be available to work up to 29 hours per week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 1:00pm to 6:00pm as well as some Saturdays during the semester.

• Bachelor's degree
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently with students

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree
• Community college engagement/tutoring experience
