Position Title Dance Coach The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced individual who wants to share the joy of dancing with the Mines and Golden community, all while supporting our amazing student athlete Orediggers! As the coach of the dance team, you will be our guiding person through navigating our continued dance experience at the collegiate level! Our DII school in Golden, Colorado boasts many winning sports teams that our excitement and enthusiasm is needed at them, along with about 1 minute performances at each halftime!

Responsibilities
  • Attendance at tri-weekly rehearsals (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 8:30-10)
    • Choreograph, teach, and help clean all performance dances
  • Attendance at all football and basketball games, unless conflict with events of other occupations
    • Should arrive for pre-game practices (football) by 9 am and stay the entire game

    • Should arrive for basketball games before the start of the women’s game
      • Schedule TBD for 2022-2023
  • Should have music cut and sent to Captain at least 3 days before first performance
  • Should have technique lesson plans, choreography, and formations prepared prior to rehearsals
    • Dances should be choreographed and taught at least 2 days before first performance
    • Choreography should be prepared (or decided to be reused) for every football and basketball game
  • Enforce consequences for inappropriate member actions as stated by the bylaws and dance team member contract
  • Delegate responsibilities to officers and attend officer meetings if deemed necessary
  • Be present as much as possible and communicate with the officers and team
  • Knowledge of inclusive practices
  • Knowledge of student development practices
  • Punctuality
  • Exceptional communication skills across all levels of the organization
This appointment term is from August 22, 2022 through May 12, 2023.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with choreography, teaching, working with young adults or minors, or experience with fitness coaching (1 year)
  • Advanced dance experience (2 or more years) as a participant (competition level), or coach
  • Strong communications and problem solving skills
  • Ability to develop and implement new choreography
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Pay Range

$17/hour for a max of 20 hours a week.

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
