This multi-faceted position interfaces with multiple internal and external constituents including students, parents, faculty, employers, university staff members, administrators, industry practitioners and donors. Works closely with Sport Analytics Program Director to manage academic and administrative responsibilities in Department of Sport Management. This includes close collaboration in student recruitment, admissions, academic advising, career counseling, event management, curriculum and schedule management, marketing, communications, job placement, and donor relations.
# HEJ Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree with three to five years of relevant academic advising experience.
  • Ability to counsel and mentor students taking dual degrees, double majors and multiple academic minors is essential.
  • Collaborating with other Schools and Colleges at Syracuse regarding students taking multiple degrees, preparing for graduate school programs, etc.
  • Strong understanding of higher education and knowledge of the overall sport industry is highly desired.
  • In-depth knowledge of role that analytics plays in measuring and evaluating sport performance, athlete assessment, business practices, and consumer behavior is needed.
  • Ability to assess and refer at-risk students to appropriate support services.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Several years of experience in student-facing university operations such as, recruiting, advising, student support, and/or curriculum management is a plus.
  • Superior communication skills and aptitude for interacting effectively with external constituents is required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, excellent follow-through, ability to work independently, and possess positive collaboration skills are necessary.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to student learning inside, and outside, of the classroom.
  • Strong experiential based industry connections are important to foster real-world experience and connect students with internships and research opportunities.
Responsibilities
  • Provide administration and oversight of the undergraduate program in Sport Analytics.
  • Offer advice and direction to undergraduate and graduate students to ensure academic success and progress toward degree requirements/graduation.
  • Provide academic advising for Sport Analytics students.
  • Coordinate curriculum adjustments and scheduling with department faculty and staff.
  • Participate, and contribute to, meetings and discussions regarding changes to the program.
  • Partner with Sport Analytics Program Director in defining and implementing processes to improve program administration and delivery.
  • Assist with coordination of the Berlin Sport Analytics Academy summer program offered through University College.
