The Grinnell College Psychology Department has a long-standing commitment to, and record of success in attracting and retaining students from diverse backgrounds. Our innovative curriculum and pedagogy promote inclusivity and help students explore how psychology interrelates with other disciplines. Our department invites applications for our open tenure-track faculty position. We seek applicants whose teaching and research interests fall within health, cultural, cross-cultural, and/or multicultural psychology or related areas. An intersectional perspective is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in research working with our diverse population of undergraduate students. High consideration will be given to individuals who can demonstrate educational, research, or other experiences that prepare them to work with underrepresented students.

In addition to a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, advising, scholarship, and service the successful candidate will teach five courses over two semesters. A lab section counts as 0.5 courses. The successful candidate will teach introductory psychology, research methods, and intermediate, and advanced courses in their area of specialization. In addition, the successful candidate will mentor and engage students in research projects.

Periodically, one course will be Tutorial (a topical writing/critical thinking course for first-year students, the only College-wide requirement beyond the completion of a major in an individually-advised curriculum). Additional information about our curriculum and faculty can be found at

Grinnell College is a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts college with a strong tradition of social responsibility. Candidates will need to upload a letter of application, curriculum vitae, transcripts (copies are acceptable), a statement on teaching interests and philosophy, a statement on research interests, a statement about how the candidate would serve Grinnell’s commitment to diversity, and provide email addresses for three references. Questions about this search should be directed to the search chair, Professor Ann Ellis, at or 641-269-4984.
