Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Teaching and Learning Center this position is responsible for providing support to the Teaching and Learning Center, OER support, and teaching and learning services related to the IREPO Grant. The position will terminate at the conclusion of the grant. The incumbent can apply for other positions within the college for which they are qualified at any time during the grant period.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master’s Degree with at least five years of professional development experience in higher educational environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Open Educational Resources
  • Experience in providing consultation and education to diverse educational groups.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify processes and procedures that enhance the outcomes of faculty members using the identified services. Maintains data that provides focus for design and delivery of learning opportunities for all faculty members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills that provide users with the information needed to improve, model, and share their experiences with others who are doing similar work. Creates written documentation that serve as references for participants in formal learning experiences.
  • Good judgment and ability to identify opportunities that will bring faculty members together to support one another in methods that enhance student success.
  • Ability to identify opportunities where standardized procedures will provide opportunity for the enhancement of outcomes and the ability to identify metrics that measure successful outcomes.
Criteria

CRITERIA : The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process. A Resume/CV and cover letter are required with the application. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • This position will provide support to the Director of the Teaching and Learning Center by offering specific training for faculty and staff educators at the college.
  • The incumbent in this position working with director will analyze student success data to provide information on the key topics to enhance student engagement and improve course completion and student success.
  • The incumbent in this role will facilitate the creation and implementation of learning communities to address classroom outcomes and the challenges expressed by faculty members. Evidenced based practices, current pedagogical research and faculty interest will drive the formulation of the learning communities and course offerings.
  • This position will serve as part of the OER implementation team. The incumbent will verify that the work meets the standards and quality established by the OER steering committee. New and existing documents will be reviewed to ensure that the materials are up to date and can be used by faculty desiring to use OER materials.
  • The incumbent will be available to work with faculty and staff educator cohorts regarding various evidence-based and high-impact practices at the college.
  • Provides teaching and learning support to additional areas as directed by the Associate Vice President of Teaching, Learning and Student Success.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
