The Project Manager manages assigned capital and local projects from bid through project close-out as well as local projects not requiring bid documents from planning through close-out. This person will act as UTC’s representative ensuring compliance with programmatic requirements, applicable codes, industry standards, best practices, specifications, and incorporation of campus standards into every project. The Project Manager will be a liaison with university user groups affected by projects, providing clear communications, and managing expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management
  • Executes projects assigned in whole or in part
  • Coordinates and monitors progress of construction and oversees work of contractors
  • Coordinates and communicates pedestrian, vehicular, and space disruptions to the campus
  • Reviews and interprets plans, specifications, and other technical documents
  • Provides technical design and/or construction reviews
  • Reviews submittals of drawings and samples
  • Monitors and reports on project costs and schedule
  • Monitors conformity of construction with contract documents and specifications
  • Conducts quality assurance reviews to ensure work is satisfactorily performed and completed
  • Conducts final inspections and schedules warranty work on assigned projects
  • Ensures Space Management is informed of any space modifications to include area, configuration, and use
Cost Management
  • Develops statements of work and solicits project cost estimates (develops associated documents as required) for construction/renovation projects
  • Recommends field adjustments and redesign decisions to resolve problems or conflicts
  • Manages time & material contract for projects, including reviewing and approving invoices for proper adherence to scope of work and terms of contract agreements
  • Performs CMMS tasks in TMA (and other database software as required) to create projects, assign work orders, process invoices, input estimates & costs, record status changes, develop and monitor associated reports, etc.
  • Performs AutoCad, Revit, and other drafting and modeling software tasks as required
Additional Duties
  • Provides input and assistance on campus interior selections for local projects not requiring bid documents, this will include dealing with Facilities Planning & Management staff as well as campus customers
  • Recommends or selects finishes or furnishings (classroom and lab furnishings must be coordinated with Space Management) for projects and helps assure that all repairs/renovations adhere to the overall campus vision and standards
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Knowledge of construction concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of Interior Design concepts, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of a variety of purchasing/procurement and contracting methods
  • Knowledge of software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, AutoCAD, Autodesk-Revit, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Knowledge of cost estimating methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Minimum qualifications: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred qualifications: Project management/coordinator experience is preferred.
