Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Executive Manager of Government Affairs & Economic Development and focuses on organizing the development and delivery of business outreach and training and development programs, including staffing such activities with potential instructors. Assists with department policy development and organizing resources to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.

Significant importance on strong customer service and responsiveness. The position will support contract negotiation and scheduling with external clients and collaborate with the Business Development Specialist to support outreach efforts and follow-up communication. This individual will track and monitor outreach efforts conducted from phone calls, emails, and meetings. 

This individual will support Government Affairs and Business Development in coordinating various conferences and activities. Collaboration with area associations and professional groups for scheduling of spaces and speaking opportunities. The individual will maintain a calendar of outreach and engagement events and support visibility in the business community for UWGB. May attend community events, become involved in boards, associations, economic development organizations, or chamber groups based on need.

Will perform business and industry research when identified as a potential need or area of growth for the department. Assists the business specialist in facilitating an assessment and evaluation process for effective programing. Assist in tracking and managing the outreach program expenses and revenue.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships to promote the outreach program.
  • Research, develop, and facilitate outreach program content and materials.
  • Assist with marketing, promotional materials, website updates, site venues, media and other program logistics.
  • Schedules and secures logistics and resources in support of an outreach program.
  • Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of outreach programming.
  • Explores, identifies, and supports grant opportunities for business and community development .

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in supporting external business relationships through consistent communication
  • Strong written communication and administrative skills with a high level of detail
  • Demonstrated success in launching and maintaining collaborations and partnerships
  • High level of computer proficiency and ability to use database, spreadsheet, web conference, presentation, and word processing software applications
  • A valid Wisconsin driver's license and a working vehicle to travel and ability to obtain driver authorization through the University

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of professional experience
  • Experience in organizational development and/or project management

Conditions Of Appointment

Occasional night and/or weekend work.  Travel is required for meetings, trainings, conferences and between campuses. Continuing Education & Community Engagement supports the entire 16-county region. Individual may have flexibility to work from the Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Marinette, or Green Bay campus as needed.

Position is a full-time Academic Staff appointment.  This position may have the option to work on-campus or a hybrid schedule subject to approved telecommuting request.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary

Minimum salary of $38,000.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

BENEFIT DETAILS

The UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. Our benefits package also includes dental, vision, several life insurance options, AD&D and Accident insurance and Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The UW System also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
