West Virginia University School of Nursing invites applicants for an Associate Professor/Full Professor (Tenure-Track) Faculty position on our Morgantown Campus. The successful candidate will provide significant contributions to teaching and research and will report to the department chair. Responsibilities include but not limited to maintaining an active equity-oriented research agenda with relevance to the mission of the school, seeking and obtaining external funding, teaching and mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students in one or more programs, and providing service to the school, the department, and the university.

The WVU School of Nursing remains committed to providing the highest levels of undergraduate professional nursing education, while expanding opportunities for graduate education. Our MSN program continues to prepare Nurse Practitioners with faculty who are experts in using technology with “high touch” skills. Our school also offers two doctoral programs, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)–the highest level of nursing practice, and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) for nurses desiring a research career. Start-up packages will be negotiated individually with the Dean of the School of Nursing. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the individual’s professional background and experience.

West Virginia University is a land grant Carnegie-designated Doctoral Research/Extensive institution, with approximately 32,500 students, including 27,000 undergraduate and 5,500 graduate/professional students. The WVU Health Sciences Center includes the Schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health and Nursing. Patient care facilities include a 690-bed teaching hospital, a Level I trauma center, and a 70-bed psychiatric hospital. Morgantown is within easy traveling distance of Washington, DC, to the east, Pittsburgh, PA, to the north, and Cleveland and Columbus, OH, to the northwest. Morgantown has 55,000 residents and is rated as one of the best small towns in the U.S., with affordable housing, excellent schools, a picturesque countryside and many outdoor activities.

Qualifications :
  • Doctoral degree required.
  • Graduate degree in Nursing required.
  • Research Doctorate in Nursing encouraged to apply.
  • Two (2) years post-doctoral training encouraged to apply.
  • Evidence of ability to execute and sustain a program of research.
  • Current external funding or NIH grant application under development encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum of three (3) peer reviewed publications within past 5 years expected.
