Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Building and Grounds Superintendent, this position will participate in the delivery of maintenance for the division's facility services department at the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center. This position provides for the maintenance of recreational sports facilities and equipment, directs, and plans building operations, and assists the Building and Grounds Superintendent and the Associate Director of Facility Services with planning and budgeting for facility operations and equipment. This facility features a lap swimming pool, ice rink, climbing wall, wood floor gymnasiums, teaching kitchen, and over 29,000 square feet of fitness space.

Responsibilities:

Supervises assigned staff in the maintenance of buildings and grounds, and/or schedules maintenance and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating, and air conditioning.
  • 25% Supervises janitorial services and grounds maintenance such as landscaping, lawn care, and snow removal
  • 25% Develops and schedules unit operational work plans
  • 25% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • 25% Schedules logistics and secures resources for cross-unit activities
Tasks:
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 (FTE) employees
  • Supervise and manage two to four, full-time, facility technician personnel at the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center
  • Recommend disciplinary action for approval by the Building and Grounds Superintendent.
  • Create and implement a preventative maintenance program and schedule for the 270,000 square foot Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center.
  • Perform building inspections to ensure the quality of work, identify broken equipment or damage to the building, cleanliness of the building, and to certify that safety procedures are followed; document, report, or correct any infractions.
  • Assist in planning and executing projects related to maintenance or improvements to the building.
  • Work with the Custodial Supervisor at the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center to efficiently manage workflow components and completing projects.
  • Perform site inspections with Assistant Director of Operations at the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center to discover and prevent future facility concerns.
  • Communicates unit goals and objectives, implements unit operational policies and procedures, and provides training and feedback to ensure safety and compliance
  • Develops and schedules unit operational work plans.
  • Facilitate onboarding and training program for all new facility technicians; provide ongoing training as needed.

Education:

Preferred
H.S. Diploma

Qualifications:

3 years of previous experience maintaining facilities and equipment.
Previous supervisory experience preferred

A typical schedule is Monday-Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm but may adjust based on Rec Well needs.
