Position Summary:

The Institutional Research Analyst II, DEI performs advanced analytical work in support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts in academic and non-academic units across the university. Such support includes identifying appropriate metrics and research questions and providing the institution with data for informed decision-making regarding DEI trends and progress toward goals. This work requires comprehensive data analysis and synthesizing data for reporting and effectively communicating findings. This work includes taking the results from data analysis and helping to identify issues for leadership to address. The position develops and maintains the university’s DEI-relevant data publications, designs formats and compiles data required for development and production of reports related to DEI, and responds to general data requests concerning DEI from university stakeholders. The position reports to the Vice Provost for DEI and collaborates and coordinates work with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.


$75,000 to $80,000

Essential Functions:
  • In consultation with the Vice Provost for DEI, identifies and recommends research questions to be addressed and conducts necessary research
  • Recommends DEI metrics to be tracked overtime and for use in comparisons with peer institutions
  • Effectively communicates research findings and other information in written and verbal formats as well as graphic or tabular displays
  • Organizes and leads special projects across the university
  • Participates in data governance activities; identifies, secures, confirms, and compiles data and completes survey submission requests from various external entities
  • Develops and maintains assigned internal data publications
  • Manages the annual process of updating facts reported on the OIR website
  • Advises institutional constituents on the use of interactive data dashboards
  • Uses statistical software to produce aggregate data for analysis and dissemination
  • Prepares and responds to DEI-related ad-hoc requests from university members, especially employees with DEI responsibilities
  • Creates numeric and graphic displays for succinct and meaningful consumption- Prepares regular status reports on projects or topics of interest
  • Interprets data, identifies relevant trends, and recommends actions
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
    • In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted
  • 5 years experience in data analytics and reporting; data source construction

Skills Required:
  • Familiarity and experience with topics surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Access and Excel), Oracle Business Objects, Tableau, and statistical software (SPSS)
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated successful collaboration and effective working relationships with diverse populations and constituents
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to be detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved
  • Possess critical and creative thinking skills, high standard of integrity, and incorporate best practices of documenting and maintaining data into the organizational culture
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, interpret, identify relevant trends, and present information in a meaningful manner using large, complex datasets and databases
  • Ability to present a wide-range of data visually for diverse audiences
