In support of our pursuits, the College is searching for a tenure track assistant professor faculty position in Special Populations. We seek experienced and ambitious colleagues whose research and teaching are strategically aligned with our ongoing work to address educational disparities. We also desire a colleague who adds diversity and strength to our current faculty’s strengths and areas of research.

The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies houses three programs: K-12 Leadership, Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies, and Special Populations. We seek one new tenure-track colleague in Special Populations who shares our Department’s philosophical aim to strengthen educational opportunities and outcomes for all students, particularly those individuals historically underserved by current local, state, national, and international educational and social systems. Special Populations programs at UH prepare graduates for positions in a variety of settings and provide them with the tools to meet the needs of ALL students in K-12 schools (both general education and special education) who often experience challenges related to language, learning, social interactions, transition, and poverty.

Qualifications :

An earned doctorate - EdD or PhD is required.

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following:

• Professional Experiences in applied educational settings to include the identification and implementation of evidence-based interventions and assessments to help close achievement gaps, keep students in school, and successfully launch them into college and careers paths;
• Applied Research activities that have resulted in peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and the potential for funding;
• Team Leadership/Coaching history to include a focus on Improvement Science work that supports the work of students who bring the most pressing concerns experienced by the educational community to each course. Capacity to lead teams to network and support fellow members who respond to a grand challenge they face in their own professional context.
• Special Education Teacher Certification is required.
