Position Summary: This position plays an essential role in the 2-year Fashion Archive digitization project. Working with digital images of historical garments and accessories, the Archivist will research fashion designers and related topics, upload image sets to the online exhibition platform, and create metadata and tags. The position can be chiefly remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research fashion designers and create online biographies to accompany digital image sets
  • Upload digital image sets from Filezilla to Omeka exhibition platform
  • Create Fashion Core metadata, based on Dublin Core, and tags to optimize discoverability
  • Collaborate with the CLIR grant Curator/Stylist, Photographer, and Principal Investigator as needed
  • Attend periodic grant team meetings on campus
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of best practices in digital archives work
  • Moderate
  • experience with HTML code
  • Familiarity with website or database creation techniques
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution, or at least one year completed; archives certificate, experience, or coursework preferred
