Job Description:

Worcester State University is seeking a Tenure Track, Assistant/Associate Professor, analytical chemistry with a strong interest in chemical education, beginning September 1, 2023.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in biochemistry and experience operating a broad range of instrumentation and be passionate about promoting chemistry for non majors . Teaching responsibilities include General, Organic and Biochemistry (GOB) courses for non-majors and analytical chemistry for majors. The candidate will have the opportunity to shape the chemistry curriculum for students in our one semester non-major course covering General, Organic and Biochemistry (GOB) concepts. The candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the Biotechnology program through research with undergraduate and graduate Biotechnology students. Opportunities to teach graduate-level biotechnology courses are available if desired.

Current instrumentation in the department includes ICP, GC/MS, LC/MS, UV-Vis and fluorescence spectrophotometers, a 60 MHz NMR, HPLC, DSC etc. The chemistry program at Worcester State is an American Chemical Society (ACS) approved program. The department has a strong commitment to green chemistry with several curricular offerings and is a Beyond Benign Green Chemistry Commitment signer. A typical assignment is two lecture sections and two or three laboratory sections each semester.
