Job Description:
The Department of Earth, Environment, and Physics at Worcester State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Physics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning in Fall 2023.
Applications from all areas of physics are encouraged. We will consider applicants across all specialties of physics, and we particularly invite applicants with expertise in one of the following: experimental, applied, or chemical physics, science education, engineering, or geophysics. We are seeking candidates who would thrive in the interdisciplinary nature of a department that offers bachelor's degrees in environmental science and geography, and minors in physics, astronomy, geospatial information science, environmental science, and geography. We especially encourage candidates from underrepresented populations in the STEM fields to apply.
Applicants should demonstrate: potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students; active engagement in research and scholarship; a commitment to public higher education; enthusiasm for developing the physics curriculum and interdisciplinary science programs; and an interest in science education. In addition to teaching algebra- and calculus-based physics, the successful candidate may teach integrated science courses, contribute to the physics and astronomy minor programs, develop new first-year seminars and mentor undergraduate students.
The successful candidate will help shape a small, dynamic department dedicated to offering a quality liberal arts education and small class sizes in a public institutional setting. Faculty at Worcester State University are part of the Massachusetts State College Association and the current contractual teaching load is 12 contact hours per semester.

- Undergraduate teaching experience.
