Job Description Summary
This Research Assistant position will be joining a strong, international collaborative working group from multiple universities in and out of California and working with a research program focusing on pharmacy outcomes research projects. Potential projects range from survey research to the use of large databases.
The selected candidate should have some experience in public health or pharmacy-related health outcomes research. The position is for a one-year term, with possible renewable, contingent on performance and funding availability.
This position is located at the Harry and Diane Rinker Health Science Campus in Irvine, California. This is a full-time, limited term staff position scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week for year term.
Responsibilities
Duties of the selected candidate will include:
Applicants for Staff and Administrator positions must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Chapman University does not sponsor applicants for Staff and Administrator positions for work visas. The offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion and outcomes of a criminal background screening, DMV driving clearance and returning to the Office of Human Resources a signed original acceptance of the Chapman University Agreement to Arbitrate.

Responsibilities
Duties of the selected candidate will include:
- Literature review and compilation
- Work with PI on survey research and/or large database research projects
- Assisting with data collection instruments (e.g., survey instrument)
- Manuscript preparation
- You will work independently and in close cooperation/consultation with research scientists (s) to analyze data.
- You will keep appropriate records and documentation necessary for data analysis, publication, collaboration, peer review, and other research activities (e.g., manuscript development)
- You will serve as a researcher on projects based in the Department of Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy ( PEP ).
- Other related research activities
- The candidate should have experience in outcomes research or public health research (e.g., research design, data analysis).
- The eligible candidate should hold a PharmD, Ph.D., DrPH, or other advanced degrees in health services research, epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, pharmacy, medicine, or related area.
- Candidates with master’s degrees with experience in outcomes research are also encouraged to apply.
- Understanding of Healthcare Economics & Health Policy
- Understanding of Confidentiality & HIPAA Insurance Knowledge
- Statistical knowledge ( SAS, R, SPSS, Excel)
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Data-analysis and Meta-analysis
- Economic modeling
- Experience in writing and preparing manuscripts for publication
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of epidemiological study design
- Previous clinical and research training
