Brown University’s Department of Africana Studies/Rites and Reason Theatre invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in regions of Africa that are south of the Sahara. The successful candidate should have expertise in twentieth century political, social, and/or cultural studies with a regional rather than a specific country focus and must have their Ph.D. or equivalent in hand by the start date of July 1, 2023.
Though the field of expertise is open, the successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Africana Studies, Africana Studies, or a relevant humanities or social science field. The successful candidate should be willing to collaborate with colleagues across campus whose teaching and research focus on Africa.
