General Summary: Provides psychological services to students including brief individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and referral to psychiatric and /or medical resources as needed; Provides consultation with administration, faculty and staff . W ith Counseling and Psychological Services team, coordinates provision of campus outreach services. Provides culturally-informed services to a diverse student population. This position requires the availability to participate in an on call rotation, and one evening per week.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Works under the clinical and administrative supervision of the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services to provide individual counseling and clinical case management.
  2. Maintains at least 50% caseload of direct counseling service.
  3. Provides crisis intervention and emergency assessments to students as needed.
  4. Manages and coordinates hospitalization and outpatient treatment discharge plans.
  5. Maintains knowledge of appropriate community resources (e.g., social services, mental health services, etc.) for student referrals.
  6. Participates in ongoing continuing education focused on diversity and multicultural competence.
  7. Maintains a system for following up with students who have been referred to campus or community resources.
  8. Manages crisis intervention on a case by case basis and serves as a resource for faculty and staff working with students.
  9. Provides assessments, individual and group therapy for students presenting with mental health concerns, in accordance with Ethical Principles of the American Psychological Association and American Counseling Association.
  10. Provides psychological assessments/interventions and referrals for self-referred students. Works collaboratively with the Counseling and Psychological Services team to provide outreach education to the campus community.
  11. Provides consultation with administration, faculty and staff.
  12. Engages in regular on-going contact with Residence Life staff to coordinate services for residential students.
  13. Maintains accurate documentation including compiling data for various reports.
  14. Participates in weekly supervision with Director of Counseling and Psychological Services and weekly Wellness Center staff meetings.
  15. Maintains confidential case files and records.
  16. Participates in professional development activities.
  17. Performs other related duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master's degree in counseling/mental health, social work or related field.

License: Must be a Georgia licensed mental health practitioner or license eligible, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is primarily performed in an office, with occasional off-campus meetings.
