Job Description Summary

Speech-language pathologists conduct speech, language and cognitive screenings and evaluations for clients with cognitive and communication disorders after COVID -19 and other neurologically-based diseases or events (i.e, brain injury). They create evaluation reports and share these results with clients and their families. They also create treatment plans, educate individuals and their families, provide intervention and support to clients and maintain recording keeping and weekly documentation.

SLPs may schedule clients for appointments, and/or oversee graduate student assistants at scheduling clients. Should graduate student assistants be involved in any direct clinical services, SLPs will supervise all activity, including evaluations and therapy. SLP supervisors are responsible for providing feedback to students regarding their therapy sessions that they conduct in person or through telehealth. The SLP supervisor approves student hours through Calipso. They continue to give them feedback and constructive criticism on the student’s therapy notes.

As the research arm of this project gets underway, SLPs will support the PI by helping to maintain HIPPA compliant data sets, track data and maintain the data base.
