Job Description Summary

The Thompson Policy Institute on Disability seeks an Evaluation and Research Manager to enhance and lead Institute-wide program evaluation and research projects. Included among these grants and projects in the California Educator Preparation Innovation Collaborative (CalEPIC) CalEPIC is a California-Based Educator Preparation Transformation Collaborative that focuses on capacity building for technical assistance for Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) and their PK-12 partners. This position will lead all of the data management and program evaluation systems for TPI /CalEPIC.

This position also includes developing, refining, and maintaining a program outcome evaluation system across TPI’s various projects. These activities include oversight of a comprehensive model to assess the degree to which TPI and its individual programs and initiatives are delivering on their promises by achieving clearly defined program outcomes and meaningful benefits to the systems we strive to improve. Position includes data collection, review, analysis, and report preparation under the direction of TPI leadership

Responsibilities
  • Oversee, refine, and maintain a program outcome evaluation system for all programs within TPI . Provide quality control on all products and project management within the team. Support with development of timeline, evaluation metrics, and project management benchmarks. Manage program evaluation meetings with institute staff, leadership, and external partners.
  • Support the director and co-director in implementing tactics to execute the Actionable Data objective of the TPI’s Strategic Plan.
  • Involvement in the design, organization, management, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data for projects. Support the data collection, tabulation, and analysis by research scientists, analysts, and assistants. In collaboration with project leaders, conduct site visits and support data collection
  • Assist in the development and implementation of ongoing program opinion surveys using Chapman’s Qualtrics system;
  • Participate in collaborative research, report writing, and dissemination, including public presentations of research findings
  • Support with reporting for grants, gifts, and contracts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Superior time management skills; ability to manage and prioritize tasks independently
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and research design
  • Knowledge of issues and programming related to diversity in education
  • Experience working well in highly collaborative fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Experience writing and presenting research reports
  • Doctoral degree in education, higher education, statistics, economics, sociology, political science or related field (preferred). Master’s degree with relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of related experience in conducting and publishing research.
  • Experience working in higher education is a plus
  • Knowledge of higher education or legal education data sources, data definitions, and limitations
  • Collaborative and adaptable with a willingness to learn new skills in dynamic environments
  • Working familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research software
