Job Details
Oversee the curriculum for the Master of Science in Management-Leadership (MSM) graduate degree programs. Serves as a subject matter expert in developing online content related to sophisticated planning techniques in Management, Executive Leadership and Leadership with a mastery of leadership theory and practice, as well as concentrations in Nonprofit Management, Women as Leaders, Veterans Services, Inclusive Practices and partner with MSFP Program Director for Financial Planning concentrations. The MSM Program Director Serves as the primary academic expert on the programmatic content and maintaining a network of programmatic connections through personal networking, professional associations, research, thought leadership, public speaking, and board service.
This position reports to the Associate Provost. This position requires a high level of interaction with internal and external stakeholders, faculty, and college leadership.
Job Scope
This position has overall responsibility for creating, managing, and working in collaboration marketing the MSM/L programs and multiple concentrations in each program. The position will require continuing development of academic programs, teaching (where needed) and staffing courses with part-time faculty ensuring delivery of the highest quality professional and advanced education programs and services to the College’s students. The MSM Program Director serves as the point of contact for graduate students enrolled in the program; communicates relevant matters to the program faculty or its committees as needed; informs the faculty of graduate education-related policies, deadlines and programs as appropriate; and forwards recommendations, nominations and other information from the faculty to the appropriate collegiate and Graduate School administrations. The MSM/L Program Director is the leader to the program faculty and Instructional Design teams in developing advanced and sophisticated online delivery of program content. The MSM/L Program director is also responsible for accreditation updates as needed for both regional and programmatic efforts. The American College is a leader in financial planning education and the applicant will have a strong interest in maintaining the quality and relevance of our courses.
This position will require some travel to industry and college events, in-person review instruction, and occasional course instruction through webinars. College faculty are encouraged to engage with the advising profession through applied research and presentations that support the educational mission of the institution.
Expected Contributions
1. STRATEGIC AND ANNUAL PROGRAM PLANNING (20%)
This role will have full responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the Master of Science in Management, Leadership degree programs – including concentrations – as ell as management of the curriculum (MSM/L).
Key/Representative Activities:

Design the program structure in accordance with modern and sophisticated techniques for e-learning and remote delivery.

Evaluate the quality of online, remote, and traditionally delivered coursework, maintain course content, and improve student learning outcomes.

Serve as the champion for the MSM/L degree programs. Monitor the education needs related to sophisticated financial planning techniques related to the MSM/L degree program and collaboration across the disciplines.

Actively seek out feedback from client companies, industry experts, and internal college stakeholders.

Actively market the program to a broad advisory audience and oversee the execution of the program marketing plan, collaborating with the Marketing team.

Maintain a visible profile in the relevant professional associations.

Enforce regulations of the College, the relevant collegiate unit(s) and the degree program

Provide periodic reports regarding the various programs and concentrations to the associate provost, provost and those charged with overall accreditation of the college.

Serve as the program’s representative on collegiate governance committees.

Reviews annual productivity reports (observations of designees, credit-hour production, degree awarded, graduate GPA reports etc.)

Provide oversite for the program budget including teaching and course development funding, in collaboration with the approval of the Associate Provost
2. DIRECTOR, MSFP PROGRAM (50%)

Maintain the quality in curriculum on an ongoing basis, working in conjunction with the AVP of Curriculum Strategy

Provide input into developing and executing the marketing strategy for the MSM/L program and remain in close contact with Business Development to ensure the program generates revenue consistently

Align research, professional speaking, and thought leadership efforts to the MSFP

Recruit and manage subject matter experts (SMEs) to assist with course revisions

Research subject matter for course(s)

Develop instructional material and update previously prepared material to reflect and incorporate best practices financial professionals apply to marketing, communication skills, financial planning, financial products, practice management and technology

Provide subject matter expertise in other programs as needed

Oversee the delivery of the courses in the program

Vet and train faculty to facilitate in-person and online classes

Cultivate relationships with faculty
-
Respond to faculty and student questions and concerns
-
Actively participate in continuing education seminars and programs in related subject areas

3. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF LEADERSHIP (20%)
Key/Representative Activities:

Support other programs where subject matter expertise is needed, such as in the financial planning learning objectives within the other College’s programs.

Further, develop subject matter and educational leadership expertise in industry professional development opportunities.

4. SUPPORT SERVICES FOR STUDENTS/COLLEGE GOVERNANCE (10%)
Key/Representative Activities:
-
Participate in College development and governance activities, program development, Committee service, etc.
Education Requirements:
- Terminal degree in leadership 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in developing professional and graduate level educational programs; or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Required Designation: CFP®
- In-depth knowledge of the professional education industries, including graduate level and continuing education programming trends; understanding of the professional level, distance learner, and adult education industry and the needs and interests of all students served by the College.
Essential Qualifications & Competencies
- A Terminal degree in Leadership is required with 6 - 8 years of progressive experience in student-facing functions.
- Preferred designation: CPMBC®.
- Ability to be a visionary and industry leader with advanced analytical, planning, and organizational skills; to think critically; address complex problems; and to use modern technologies and information resources so that students are prepared to become leading citizens of an increasingly global society, strong communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with peers, corporate clients, and prospects.
- Must be able to work effectively as a member of The College’s senior leadership team, the Board of Trustees, and the faculty; and to represent The College to the industry, the public, and accreditation agency representatives.
- Ability to maintain and grow a network of professionals and utilize that network to enhance programmatic offerings.
- Project management skills and demonstrated experience.
- Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
