Position: The full-time athletic communications specialist will design, write and produce promotional materials, including press releases, programs and media guides.

This position will also respond to requests for information from media personnel and the public, distribute promotional materials, such as brochures and press kits, and disseminate information via appropriate media channels.

The athletic communications specialist will be expected to plan, coordinate and assist with special events, including media days for the McCook and North Platte Community College athletic teams.

The person hired will also be required to develop and maintain close contact with local media, organize press conferences, set up interviews, respond to questions from the media and the public and manage results and statistics.

Other responsibilities include organizing and supervising photo sessions for all sports and performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned such as coordinating game day graphics, posters, pocket schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree and demonstrated experience required. Applicants must possess knowledge of college level men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball and softball, men’s baseball and golf. In addition, they must possess strong writing and grammar skills, be an excellent communicator, and have basic research abilities and the ability to track coaching and athlete records. Must be skilled in basic computer applications, specifically MS Office products and general knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs. Applicants must be highly organized, skilled in digital photography, and be willing to work nights and weekends. Experience working with the media and in videography is preferred. Must have a positive attitude with a high level of professionalism and courteousness to represent MPCC in a quality way. The Athletic Communications Specialist is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by MPCC and the NJCAA.
