This is a 12-month non-tenure-accruing position that will be 60% research (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station) and 40% extension (Florida Cooperative Extension Service), available in the Food and Resource Economics Department, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida. This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit. Duties will include research related to citrus marketing and economics. Specifically duties include collecting primary data for research, writing research output including journal articles, and preparing and presenting research at professional and industry meetings. The faculty member will work closely with the Florida Department of Citrus to identify specific research questions. The faculty member will seek contract and grant funding actively to support their program. The faculty member will engage in Extension activities in their program area.

This is a non-tenure accruing position. However, the faculty member may participate actively in graduate education by chairing graduate committees, serving on graduate committees, supervising thesis and dissertation research, and publishing the results with their graduate students. The faculty member will seek contract and grant funding actively to support their salary and program.

Background Information :

The Food and Resource Economics Department (FRED) has approximately 30 faculty members, 10 support staff positions in Gainesville, and six faculty members and support staff spread across 5 research and education centers throughout the state. FRED faculty teach a wide variety of courses, from agribusiness marketing, to natural resource/environmental economics, to welfare economics and trade theory. FRED averages ~ 250 undergraduate majors/year, and 60-80 M.S., Ph.D. and Master of Agribusiness students. Research and Extension efforts reflect both the needs of the State and the mission of the Agricultural Economics profession.

Minimum Requirements:

An earned Ph.D. (foreign equivalent acceptable) in agricultural economics or a related field is required. Other requirements include:

· Demonstrated research ability in the area of citrus marketing;

· Excellent quantitative skills in econometrics;

· Experience with collecting primary data from consumers;

· Strong skills in commonly used econometric packages.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with research experience in citrus economics and survey administration are preferred. Postdoctoral experience is desirable.
