Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the Program Manager for Wellbeing Initiatives position. The Program Manager for Wellbeing Initiatives is a full-time, two-year term position, starting at $61,545 - commensurate with experience. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.

Manages and oversees a key initiative focused on ensuring that the appropriate structures, programs, and services are in place to support the well-being of our highly diverse student body. In particular, assists the director of health education in conducting needs assessments, inventorying existing programs, reviewing best practices and assisting with the implementation of the 4-year strategic partnership with the JED campus foundation. Works with the director and the JED Foundation advisor to build a multidisciplinary team to work on the initiative and build campus-wide support for wellbeing. The position will work to create and serve as support to a student advisory board for the Wellbeing Initiative. Coordinates efforts with other partners on existing and new initiatives. The work of this position is to create systems, enhance communication, conduct assessments and provide support for positive, sustained campus change related to mental health and related issues. This is a two-year term position with the opportunity to renew for one additional two-year term.

Summary of Responsibilities

Research and Assessment
  • Conducts research on best practices, reviews data and conducts needs assessment to prioritize and develop programs, services and structures that meet the needs of our diverse community.
  • Applies data analysis to recommend the development of new or redesign of existing initiatives in support of student wellbeing.
  • Collects data, including policies, programs, and other relevant sources as part of the JED campus Initiatives assessment phase.


Project Management
  • Coordinates project activities and assists in the execution of all aspects of the JED campus baseline assessment and the implementing strategies to address the identified areas of growth. Schedules and manages meetings.
  • Tracks timelines, creates and oversees responsibility charts, and manages workflow for various initiatives relating to the JED campus program.
  • Serves on and staffs relevant committees and works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders.
  • Manages the involvement of various college constituents as required
  • Monitors the progress of the project to keep it on schedule.
  • Organizes tasks, responsibilities, and outcomes; documents activities and tracks progress.
  • Tracks progress on the implementation of the mental health strategic plan and troubleshoots areas of concern.


Communication
  • Manages communication with key stakeholders and campus constituencies to involve them in the process of assessment and implementation as appropriate as well as to keep them informed about the initiative.
  • Creates and maintains a website and uses appropriate social media channels to amplify the work.
  • Markets opportunities for involvement, training, and feedback through campus tools, social media, and other creative strategies to reach the broad campus community.


Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with project management, strategic planning, or community organizing
  • Experience with or commitment to working with a diverse community
  • Experience with conducting needs assessments
  • Skilled in data collection, data management, and analysis
  • Ability to manage time
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with website creation and facility with social media
  • An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check
  • Knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel (data manipulation, pivot tables).


Preferred:
  • Master's Degree: Educational Leadership, Higher Education, Public Health, or related field
  • Experience working at an institution of higher education
